Italy took part in a major international tournament for the last time in 2018, where the number 17 of the FIH world rankings came ninth at the World Cup in London. In 2015, the Italian women’s hockey team achieved the seventh place at the European Championships, which was also played in London. This was the best performance ever of the Italian women at a European Championship.
