In 2018, the Irish women’s hockey team, nicknamed The Green Army, delivered a performance that no one had expected. At the World Cup in London, the Irish women defeated Spain in an exciting semi-finals after shoot-outs. It was the first time that an Irish team had reached a World Cup final and it became a madhouse in Ireland. Unfortunately for The Green Army they lost the final 0-6 to The Netherlands.
